Gazebos banned from Salisbury market on Saturday as Storm Bert approaches

SALISBURY Charter Market is set to go ahead on Saturday despite warnings as Storm Bert approaches the UK – but some sellers will not be permitted.

Organiser, Salisbury City Council, said the sale will take place in Market Square as usual.

However, gazebos will not be permitted and only traders with hard structures – vehicles – allowed to take part.

“We have been closely monitoring the weather forecast, and while the Charter Market will go ahead tomorrow, we’re making a few adjustments to prioritise everyone’s safety due to the strong gusts forecast for Saturday,” a spokesperson said.

“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you at the market.”

Changes for Salisbury Charter Market on Saturday, November 23 are:
• Gazebos will not be permitted
• Only traders with hard structures (vehicles) may attend
• Fruit & veg traders may attend and trade using tables only, without coverings
