Driving ban for drink driver after police spotted near miss in Salisbury

POLICE arrested a driver after watching him almost crash into a parked van in a Salisbury street.

Kododanda Menisurya, of Whatley Way, Swindon, has now been banned from driving after he pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on September 11.

The arrest came after officers saw a red Ford Focus driving in Roman Road, Salisbury, in the early hours of June 16, travelling towards Wilton Road.

It nearly crashed into a parked van before turning into Texaco, Wilton Road, the court was told, with officers “concerned by the manner of driving”.

They carried out a breath test on 39-year-old Menisurya, which showed him to be over the drink drive limit and he was arrested.

At the court hearing, he was disqualified from driving for 16 months, fined £461, ordered to pay £83 CPS costs, and a £184 surcharge.

After the hearing, PC Alex Heath of Wiltshire Police, said: “Most people understand the dangers of drink driving, yet we still see individuals taking unnecessary risks on our roads.

“Alcohol affects judgement, reaction times and driving ability – increasing your risk of being involved in a collision. We will continue to target those who choose to drink and drive and take robust action against offenders.”
