SALISBURY Fire Station is celebrating after one of their firefighters scooped a prestigious award this weekend.
Sam Edwards, of Green Watch Salisbury, was handed the Chief Fire Officers Commendation at the DWFireRescue awards ceremony on Saturday (September 12).
The accolade, the highest award the chief can present, featured during the ceremony where people from across the fire service receive long service medals and recognition for making a difference in service and in the community.

A spokesperson for the fire station said: “Sam has worked tirelessly for the Fire Fighters Charity alongside his operational role, often sacrificing his personal time to ensure fundraising events are supported far and wide.
“Sam is also the main driving force behind the amazing Salisbury Fire Station Open Day, and for those of you that witnessed the recent multi agency training event at Salisbury Cathedral, well, Sam organised that as well.
“This is all done alongside being a dedicated and professional Wholetime Firefighter here in Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, as well as an On-Call Firefighter in his home town for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.”
The team extended its “heartfelt” thanks to Sam following his award, and said they were “so proud” of his achievement.
