Salisbury teens set off on 1,200 mile walk to Ukraine

THREE Salisbury teenage friends are embarking on a colossal trek to raise money for people affected by the conflict in Ukraine.

James McCarthy-Hill, Kyle Spring and Adam Mitchell are currently on day 10 of their expedition – and they’ve managed to make it to the Belgium border having set off from Salisbury Cathedral on June 29.

The boys have so far raised an incredible £2,773.

They expect the trip to take around 60 days, with the three averaging 26km per day.

Once they arrive in Ukraine, James, Kyle and Adam will spend a week delivering aid with the help of Justin Ukraine Aid – a volunteer run organisation that runs essential aid to areas of Ukraine that many charities won’t go to.

The three said: “Unfortunately, in Ukraine there is very little government or charitable funds available to support people’s needs.

“It’s heart-breaking to hear that they are suffering because of a lack of the very basic things that we all take for granted.

“No child should have to go hungry, feel cold or not get the medical treatment they need, but this is the sad reality many of them endure daily.

“Many of these children have been through hell, experienced unimaginable hardship, and lost family members and homes. They desperately need your help.”

The teens are documenting their journey through their Instagram page step2Ukraine.
