Frankie the dog brings the charm for Macmillan fundraiser

A CARE home in Salisbury unleashed their secret weapon to encourage people to donate to charity – Frankie the dog!

Frankie and his puppy-dog eyes were centre stage at Milford House on September 26 as he joined residents for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The care home put on a selection of hot drinks and cake for people to purchase, and attendees were suitably smitten by Frankie who is a regular visitor to the care home.

General manager at the care home, Aga Musial, praised everyone that supported the event, with the total raised reaching £130.

“Our fabulous cakes baked by chef Becky disappeared in a flash, our activity team made a record number of speciality coffees,” she said.

“Happy shoppers went away with gorgeous cards featuring artwork by our residents and more, but of course a special thank you to Frankie who leant his personality and charm to the morning and ensured that everyone left us with a huge smile on their faces!”

One resident said: “We had such a lovely morning and, as well as the cakes, we had music from Nigel which made for a wonderful atmosphere.

“Fundraising for charities like Macmillan is so worthwhile and it was so good to feel that we were part of an effort that was going on across the country and to know that we have played our own small part.”

Milford House provides residential and nursing care for 70 residents from respite care to long term stays.
