Salisbury Foodbank provides 200 hampers to families in need

FOOTBALLERS in Salisbury have supported the city’s foodbank in providing 200 Christmas hampers to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.

The initiative by Salisbury Foodbank is made possible through a partnership with Laverstock and Ford Football Club, whose players delivered hampers to homes across the community over the weekend.

Each hamper is carefully packed with seasonal essentials and festive treats to help families enjoy a warm and joyful holiday season.

Foodbank manager Maria said: “Christmas is a time for giving, and we want everyone in our community to feel cared for and included.

“Thanks to the incredible support from our volunteers, food donors and financial donors throughout the year. Without their generosity and compassion, we couldn’t provide such projects.

“This year our hamper project supported 700 people – referred to us by schools and care givers.  With a further 160 vulnerable people in supported living accommodation, such as John Baker House, Entrain and Alabaré Veterans.

“But special thanks on this project to Laverstock and Ford FC, this simply wouldn’t be possible without the team’s commitment, together we make a real difference for people who need it most.”

Laverstock and Ford FC manager Liam McConnel added: “A huge well done to our brilliant volunteers who spent all Sunday morning out & about delivering over 200 festive food parcels on behalf of the Salisbury Foodbank.

“For some it will be the only gift they’ll receive this year, and others, food they wouldn’t normally be able to afford. It’s our mission to ensure every year the brilliant foodbank can rely on our brilliant Bulldogs to deliver the packages safely!”

The foodbank said the collaboration reflected a shared commitment to supporting residents during challenging times.
