FAMILIES and art lovers are being invited to get hands-on with creativity at a free drop-in workshop at Salisbury Library this month.
The Young Gallery will host Patterns in Pictures on Tuesday, February 17, offering a relaxed, all-ages creative session inspired by works from its permanent collection.
Running from 11am to 1pm, the workshop will be led by artist Emma Kerr and takes inspiration from artworks by renowned sculptor Peter Randall-Page.
Visitors will be encouraged to explore patterns using natural objects and everyday materials, experimenting with shape and form through activities such as origami, collage, drawing and textured picture-making.
The session is open to adults, families and children of all ages, although children must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout.
Taking place in Gallery 3 at the Young Gallery, on the first floor of Salisbury Library, the workshop is completely free, with no booking required.
Participants can drop in at any point during the two-hour session, with all materials provided and no previous experience needed.
A variety of tactile and sensory items will be available, including pinecones, plastic fruit, 3D Rubik’s cubes and sensory toys, making the workshop particularly engaging for younger visitors.
Organisers say the event is designed to be accessible and welcoming, encouraging creativity in a fun, informal setting. The workshop will run while materials last.
