Burglars hit Wilton charity shop in weekend crime spree

TWO Wilton shops have been targeted in a weekend break-in that has forced a popular charity shop to close while the damage is assessed.

Police say burglars broke into both Premier Seeds and the ALABARÉ Emporium sometime between 5pm on Saturday, March 7 and 12.30pm on Sunday, March 8.

The incidents caused damage inside both premises, with cabinets and shelves rummaged through.

At this stage it is still unclear what, if anything, has been stolen.

However, the incident has had a direct impact on the ALABARÉ Emporium – a charity shop run by ALABARÉ – which has been forced to close while repairs are carried out.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “Unfortunately, ALABARÉ’s Wilton Emporium has been affected by a burglary over the weekend, and Wiltshire Police are currently investigating.

“As a result, the store has been closed for the time being while we assess the damage and make the necessary repairs on site. We aim to reopen on Wednesday (11 March).

“While this is an isolated incident, it is concerning and can affect our colleagues, so our priority now is to ensure their safety and well-being.”

Officers from Wiltshire Police are now carrying out enquiries and appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “Enquiries are currently ongoing and we’d urge anyone with information to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting crime reference number 54260028224.

Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
