RESIDENTS of Amesbury came together in impressive numbers for a community litter pick, helping spruce up the town as part of the national Great British Spring Clean.
Volunteers of all ages took part in the event on Saturday, with families, councillors and groups rolling up their sleeves to tackle rubbish across key areas including Boscombe Road, London Road and Archers Gate.

Everyone was welcome.
Among those joining in were members of the 1st Boscombe Down Beavers, Cubs and Scouts – and even a four-month-old baby, showing community spirit knows no age limits.

All ages turned out!
Deputy mayor Cllr Laura Knight praised the turnout and the collective effort.
She said: “It was great to see people of all ages getting involved, a big thank you goes to the 1st Boscombe Down Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and even a tiny four-month-old in a pram, proving you’re never too young to get involved!”

The sun shine for the volunteers.
The BMX track was highlighted as a hotspot, where volunteers filled 12 bags of rubbish, contributing to a total of 28 bags collected across the town.
Cllr Knight added: “It was lovely to see the community come together again to help look after our town.”

The litter is bagged up.
Support from community organisations played a key role in the day’s success, with equipment provided and collected afterwards, and refreshments helping to round off the event.
The clean-up effort also shone a light on the ongoing work carried out behind the scenes to keep Amesbury tidy.
“The town council carries out regular litter picks and bin emptying, which is an endless task, so the support of residents is very much appreciated,” Cllr Knight said.

A clean-up couple!
With more events planned, organisers hope the strong turnout signals a growing appetite among residents to take pride in their town – and keep Amesbury looking its best year-round.
