FIREFIGHTERS from Amesbury were put through their paces during a specialist aircraft incident training session at Middle Wallop.
The on-call crew spent the evening gaining rare behind-the-scenes access to military aviation, including a close-up look at an Apache helicopter to better understand its scale and complexity in emergency situations.
After receiving classroom-based theory input, firefighters were shown around the aircraft before moving on to a hands-on exercise.
Crews then took part in a simulated incident using a training unit designed to recreate a live fire scenario.
The session was hosted by Capita Fire and Rescue alongside White Watch, who guided Amesbury firefighters through the exercise and answered questions throughout.
The training forms part of ongoing efforts to prepare on-call crews for a wide range of incidents, including those involving aircraft.
Amesbury Fire Station is also encouraging new recruits to come forward, inviting anyone interested in a “new challenge” to get in touch to learn more about becoming a paid on-call firefighter.
