AN INSPIRING Himalayan adventure and the Salisbury women behind it are set to take centre stage in the city at a special charity film screening next month.
Salisbury District Hospital’s charity Stars Appeal is inviting the community to a one-off showing of More Than a Mountain, a powerful documentary featuring three trekkers who have already raised more than £30,000 for the charity.
Viv Grant, Helen Davies and Caroline Cooper are no strangers to a challenge, having taken part in multiple fundraising treks over the years.
In 2025, they joined an extraordinary expedition in Nepal led by local Everest summiteer Jo Bradshaw – a journey now captured on film.

Climbing Yala Peak.
The documentary follows a group of fifteen women as they attempt the demanding ascent of Yala Peak, a 5,500m Himalayan mountain. But this is more than just a story about climbing.
More Than a Mountain shines a light on women in mountaineering – past and present – and challenges assumptions about who belongs in high-altitude exploration.
The expedition marks 50 years since the first woman summited Everest, asking a simple but striking question: do you know her name?
That woman was Junko Tabei; a pioneering Japanese climber whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
The film honours her achievements, as well as those of countless other women whose stories have gone untold.
From complete beginners to experienced climbers, and ranging in age from 29 to 71, the women featured in the film bring powerful personal stories of resilience, courage and determination.
After the screening, attendees will have the chance to hear directly from the Salisbury trekkers during a live Q&A, offering a rare insight into what it takes to push beyond limits, both physically and mentally.
The event takes place at Salisbury District Hospital on Wednesday, April 8, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Tickets cost £8 and must be booked in advance.
Funds raised will support vital projects at the hospital, from life-saving equipment to services for patients and families.
For organisers, the evening is about more than fundraising – it is about community, inspiration and showing what is possible when people come together for a cause.
