COMMUNITY-minded residents at a Salisbury care home have rolled up their sleeves to support the UK’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign.
A group of volunteer litter pickers from Braemar Lodge joined the Great British Spring Clean, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, for a morning of action in their area.

Suited and booted!
Wearing hi-visibility vests and armed with bags, hoops and long-handled pickers, ten residents and eight members of staff headed out to tackle litter in and around Victoria Park.
By the end of the session, they had collected enough rubbish to fill four large bags.
The effort was not just about cleaning up – it was also about connection, community spirit and enjoying time outdoors.

Nothing can stop these ladies!
Two residents shared why the day meant so much to them.
Elizabeth Lawrence said: “I’ll do anything to help with this good cause.”
Fellow resident Beatrice Stubbs added: “Everyone was happy and laughing.”

Four large bags of litter collected.
Home manager Jackie Cash said the group made the most of the opportunity to get involved.
“We started the day in Victoria Park and then expanded our collection area to surrounding hedges around the perimeter.
“It was a great opportunity for our residents to get involved with a community event.
“It created lots of positivity and laughter within the group and we had a great turnout.”
The litter pick was organised in partnership with Salisbury City Council, with support on the day from Cllr Sharon Rideout and her granddaughter.
Equipment was provided by Salisbury-based grounds maintenance contractor idverde, who also arranged for the collected waste to be picked up later.
For those involved, it was a simple act that made a visible difference – proving that community spirit is alive and well in Salisbury.
