Warning after tyre-spiking devices found on roads

POLICE have issued a warning after dangerous metal spike devices were reportedly scattered across roads in Amesbury, causing damage to multiple vehicles.

Officers say they have received concerns from residents and businesses about the objects being found on Stonehenge Road and Holders Road.

Several vehicles have already suffered punctures and complete tyre deflations after driving over the items, which are believed to have been deliberately placed on the highway.

The devices are described as small metal objects, similar in appearance to a Stanley knife blade but shaped like a boomerang.

They are designed to flip upwards under pressure and puncture tyres as vehicles pass over them.

Police have warned the items pose a serious risk not only to motorists and passengers, but also to pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders, wildlife and pets.

Anyone with information about who may be responsible for placing the devices, or where they may have come from, is urged to contact Wiltshire Police via 101 or the Amesbury Neighbourhood Policing Team, quoting reference 54260031614.
