VISITORS to Salisbury Charter Market are being urged to shop early as traders prepare for soaring temperatures and a Met Office red heat warning.
Market organisers said trading arrangements could be adjusted tomorrow (June 23), as temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels across the region.
Flexible attendance arrangements are being offered to traders with heat-sensitive stock, including fresh produce and other perishable goods.
Attendance for other stallholders will be managed throughout the day in consultation with the Markets Team.
Organisers said the measures are designed to protect the health and wellbeing of traders, staff and visitors while allowing the popular market to continue operating where possible.
A spokesperson said: “The health and safety of our market community is our absolute priority. While we want to support local trade, we must adapt to these extreme conditions.
“We encourage visitors to come along early in the morning when it is cooler, stay hydrated, and support our local businesses safely.”
Shoppers planning to visit are advised to bring water, wear sun protection and check for any updates before travelling as Wiltshire experiences what could be some of the hottest weather of the year.
