Bins must be out earlier as heatwave hits Wiltshire

HOUSEHOLDS are being asked to ensure their bins are placed out for collection before 6am on their scheduled collection day.

The temporary change comes as a Met Office red heat warning covers much of southern England, prompting organisations across the county to alter working arrangements and issue public safety advice.

Waste crews often work long shifts outdoors and can be particularly affected during periods of extreme heat.

A spokesperson said the earlier start times are designed to protect staff while helping minimise disruption to collection services.

Residents who normally put their bins out later in the morning are being advised to make alternative arrangements to avoid missing their collection.

Wiltshire Council has thanked residents for their cooperation during the heatwave and urged everyone to stay safe in the exceptionally hot weather.
