Ninety Scouts take on fast-paced challenge night in Salisbury

SCOUTS from across Salisbury put their teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills to the test during an action-packed Cube Challenge Evening at Hudsons Field.

Organised by the 23rd Salisbury Scout Group, the Salisbury & South Wilts District event brought together 17 teams and around 90 Scouts from across the district, including groups from 23rd Salisbury, 4th Salisbury (Harnham), Bourne Valley Idmiston, Bourne Valley Figsbury, 10th Salisbury and 1st Amesbury.

Each patrol faced 17 fast-paced challenges, with just three minutes to complete each one.

Among the challenges were blindfold relays, welly wanging, water transport, human knots, rugby ball throwing, Kim’s Game, paddle ball, card sorting, silent line-ups and even turning over a groundsheet while everyone remained standing on it.

Although points were awarded throughout the evening, the emphasis was firmly on teamwork rather than winning with patrols encouraged to work together under pressure while having fun.

Mark Warner, Salisbury & South Wilts District media & PR team lead, said: “It was great to see all of the Scouts solving and completing the individual challenges out of a truly competitive environment. The Scouts learn great leadership and teamwork skills by taking part.”

The evening highlighted the wide range of skills Scouting helps young people develop, from communication and resilience to leadership and confidence, while bringing together troops from across the Salisbury area for a memorable evening of friendly competition.
