Put your ideas forward for City Charter 800th anniversary celebrations in Salisbury

A GROUP has been formed to plan celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of Salisbury’s City Charter.

A series of community-led celebrations are planned, including events proposed by individuals, community groups, and independent organisations.

To help organise the celebrations, a small Project Board has been created, made up of key city partners.

Organisers said the group is “working collaboratively to ensure the programme runs smoothly and that as many community-led initiatives as possible are included”.

Meanwhile, people are being encouraged to submit event ideas, including workshops and activities.

Anyone wishing to host an event or participate in the celebrations can submit their proposal via the S800 page on the Experience Salisbury website or email project lead Susi Mason via experiencepillar@gmail.com.

“These celebrations are all about our community,” Suzi said. “We want everyone to have the opportunity to be involved in some way, however small, by contributing to an event, volunteering to help or by being a part of the audience.

“It will be an opportunity to look back on Salisbury’s 800 years, rejoice in the creativity of our city and to look forward to its future.

“We are thrilled by the enthusiasm and collaboration we’ve seen so far, and we urge groups and individuals to continue submitting their ideas so we can build a truly unforgettable programme.”

More details of events, participating venues, and celebration dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
