RESIDENTS of a care home showcased their artistic skills by taking part in Salisbury Art Scene’s Art in the Square on Sunday (June 1).
Artistic residents from Milford House Care Home in Salisbury created pieces in their regular art sessions and monthly art open days, run under the guidance of the home’s artist in residence, Wendy Fuller.
The residents had also turned their works into a range of greetings cards which they were selling in aid of their chosen charity for 2025, Childrens Chance based in Salisbury.
General manager Aga Musial said: “Art in its many forms is such an integral part of our activity programme here at Milford House and it was wonderful to be able to showcase the great range of works produced and make them accessible to a wider audience.
“That we are also able to support Childrens Chance through our art is extra special and we are looking forward to passing on further proceeds to the charity on top of the £230 we have already raised.
“Residents enjoyed going down to the Market Square to not only see their own work exhibited but to view all the displays and gain inspiration from them as well.”
During the day other artists and members of the public dropped by the stand in a steady stream.
Scarlet Leatham, a team member who helped to man the day’s exhibit said: “The interest generated was amazing and people were so complimentary about the work on show and were genuinely interested in hearing about our artistic programme.
“We will be attending again at the beginning of September when we will be showing off our work around the theme ‘green’ as we prepare for Arts in Care Homes day which is being held on September 24 and we are really excited to start working on this – so watch this space!”
