CCTV appeal over theft of hired tools in Wimborne and Ferndown

POLICE probing the theft of hired tools in Wimborne and Ferndown have issued a CCTV image of a person they are keen to trace.

Officers want to identify the person pictured in relation to incidents on Friday, June 21 this year.

“It is reported that at around 4pm on June 21, two men attended Brandon Tool Hire in New Borough Road in Wimborne and an incorrect address was given to hire items valued at approximately £1,752,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

“It was later reported that the men also hired items from Travis Perkins in Cobham Road in Ferndown that same day.

“None of the items have been returned to the companies as agreed.”

A man in his 60s from Lyme Regis was later arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop and fraud by false representation, while a man in his 30s from Wimborne was arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop, they said.

Both have been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

PC Chloe Norman, of Dorset Police, added: “We have been making a number of enquiries to identify those involved and have arrested two people.

“We are now in a position to release a CCTV image of a further man we would like to identify as part of our ongoing investigation.

“I would urge anyone who recognises them to please contact us.”
