FAMILIES, carers and professionals in Salisbury are being invited to a free conference aimed at helping people better understand and support those living with dementia.
The Navigating Dementia Conference, organised by Safer and Supportive Salisbury, will take place on Tuesday, May 19 at Salisbury Methodist Church on St Edmunds Church Street.
The afternoon event will bring together community organisations, national experts and people with lived experience to share knowledge, practical advice and support.
Organisers say the aim is to highlight how small changes in understanding and care can make a meaningful difference to people living with dementia and those around them.
Guests will be welcomed with a buffet lunch from 12.30pm, before the conference begins at 1.30pm and continues until 4.30pm.
The keynote speaker will be Al Aynsley-Green, who will discuss the importance of compassionate care.
Representatives from Alzheimer’s Disease International will also speak, sharing the latest international research into dementia treatment and prevention.
Alongside expert speakers, the event will feature people with lived experience of dementia who will share personal stories about diagnosis, care and navigating everyday life with the condition.
Local support organisations will also be present throughout the afternoon, offering one-to-one advice and information for anyone seeking help or guidance.
To ensure the event is welcoming and accessible, organisers will provide a quiet room with a tailored programme of activities for people living with dementia who attend the conference.
The conference is free, but places are limited and must be booked in advance to allow organisers to plan catering and support needs.
Anyone wishing to attend can book through Eventbrite, call 07484 157768 or email admin@safersalisbury.org.uk
Attendees are asked to mention any dietary or support requirements when booking.
