A DAY dedicated to one of nature’s hardest workers is set to create a buzz near Salisbury later this month.
Courtens Garden Centre is hosting a Bee Bonanza on Saturday, April 25, bringing together experts, families and gardeners to celebrate the vital role bees play in everyday life.
And it’s not just about honeybees are essential to the food we eat.
More than 90% of the world’s leading crop types are visited by bees, making them crucial for growing everything from fruit to vegetables.
Visitors will be able to meet specialists from wildlife and conservation groups, pick up advice on how to support pollinators, and learn how even small spaces, like patios or balconies, can help bees thrive.
There will also be plenty to see and do, from stalls selling local honey, honeycomb and handmade products to a wide range of bee-friendly plants.
For younger visitors, the event promises hands-on activities, including the chance to see a real hive and learn how to start growing their own plants – turning the day into both a fun outing and a practical lesson in nature.
Organisers say the aim is to inspire people to take simple steps that can make a big difference, whether that is planting pollinator-friendly flowers or growing crops that rely on bees.
The event runs from 10am to 3.30pm, with parking available, refreshments on site and a pizza van for hungry visitors.
A raffle will also be held in support of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, helping to protect bee populations for the future.
For anyone curious about bees, or keen to make their garden more wildlife-friendly, it promises to be a lively and informative day.
