A SALISBURY takeaway has applied to extend its opening hours.

Downton Grilling & Kebab, at Unit 4, The Borough, has submitted an application to Wiltshire Council that could see it open earlier, and close later.

Currently, the premises is only allowed to open between 1.30pm and 9.30pm from Monday to Saturday. It is not permitted to open on Sunday.

The application seeks permission to open from noon until 10pm from Sunday to Thursday, and from noon until 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

It said the change would bring the takeaway in line with nearby businesses, such as the Co-op and The Goat Inn.

“The application aims to bring the operational hours of the takeaway in line with the needs of the local community and the operating hours of nearby establishments, ensuring economic viability and improved customer service,” it said.

“The proposed extended hours fall well within the operational framework of these neighbouring businesses and are proportionate to the site’s existing use as a takeaway food establishment,” it added.
