DRIVERS are being urged to avoid the A303 near Amesbury after a crash closed the westbound carriageway this afternoon.
Fire crews from Salisbury are currently at the scene on the A303 Amesbury Bypass and are advising motorists to stay away from the area.
National Highways confirmed the westbound carriageway is closed from Countess Roundabout, between the A345 and the A360 junction, with traffic disruption expected while emergency services deal with the incident.
The road is currently expected to reopen between 3.45pm and 4pm, although delays are likely.
