PEOPLE will get the chance to step inside the world of emergency care, operating theatres and medical training when Salisbury District Hospital throws open its doors for a free family event.
The popular open day returns on Saturday, May 16 between 10am and 3pm, promising hands-on activities, live demonstrations and a rare glimpse into hospital life.
One of the biggest attractions is expected to be the much-loved toy hospital where children can bring along their teddies and toys for treatment.
Youngsters can also visit the ‘fracture clinic’ and leave with their own plaster cast, while visitors of all ages will be able to meet lifelike simulation manikins used to train NHS staff for real-life emergencies.

Displays and activities will be spread across the hospital site and inside marquees on The Green near Entrance B.
Hospital managing director Nick Johnson said the event was designed to show the community the huge variety of roles involved in running the hospital.
“We’re delighted to invite everyone from our community to come and get a behind-the-scenes look at what our skilled, dedicated staff do every day to provide quality care to our patients,” he said.
“Visitors will learn about the wide variety of roles that make our hospital work. This is our fourth year of offering a great day of fun and entertainment for the whole family.”
Free parking will be available during the event, while visitors can also reach the hospital using Salisbury Reds bus services R1, 29 and 44.
Food, refreshments and ice cream will also be on offer throughout the day.
