HUNDREDS of people joined the traditional Good Friday Walk of Witness in Salisbury.
The event, which featured participants from across the Salisbury Church Community, saw people gather to sing hymns, offer prayers and process on one of the most significant days in the Christian calendar.
As part of the gathering, a large cross is carried at the front of the procession by representative members from different churches, with the Salvation Army Band leading the music.
The walk stopped at the Poultry cross for singing and prayers, finally finishing at the Guildhall Square for a further service of reflection including prayers for the leaders of the world and local community.
“It was great for so many different churches to gather together in this way,” said Captain Martin Davison of Salisbury Salvation Army.
“Hundreds of people came to share in the walk, and we were delighted by how many of the public passing by joined in the singing and listening to the readings and prayers, even children, maybe in the city centre for shopping, looked on and were fascinated by the large cross and brass band music.”
Meanwhile, special Good Friday Church services took place across the city.
