Hundreds of scouts to descend on Salisbury for St George’s Day event

AROUND 600 Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Leaders and Explorers will all descend on Old Sarum Castle later this month for a special St George’s Day celebration.

The gathering on Sunday, April 27 will see people meet at Hudson’s Field at 2pm before they make their way to Old Sarum, where there will be a service in the inner bailey of the castle.

This will finish at 4pm.

The Salisbury and South Wilts Scouts are appealing for as many people as possible to attend, as scouts flags from each group will be positioned around the rampart to create a special atmosphere.

The district commissioner Ian H Jack said: “Capacity in the inner bailey is 600. It would be great to hit that number and get all our standards flying around the ramparts.”
