Mum’s legacy raises £15,683 for hospice

A YOUNG mum who defied the odds time and again has left a lasting legacy of love, with her family raising more than £15,000 to thank those who cared for her in her final days.

Sarah Rogers, described as a devoted mum, wife and friend, spent her last 12 weeks at Salisbury Hospice Charity before she died on June 22, 2025 – just one week after her 42nd birthday.

Now, her family has raised an incredible £15,683 in her memory – a figure that holds special meaning, reflecting her birthday, 15.6.83.

Sarah’s story is one of extraordinary courage.

In 2020, when her daughter Ava was just nine months old, she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour.

After a gruelling 12-hour operation and weeks in hospital during the pandemic, she fought her way home in time for her baby’s first Christmas.

She later underwent further treatment and was given the all clear, but in 2022, she was dealt another devastating blow with a second, unrelated brain tumour.

Over the following years, Sarah endured five surgeries alongside radiotherapy, chemotherapy and proton beam therapy.

Even as the illness returned in 2023 and treatment options ran out, she continued to fight – determined to stay with her family for as long as possible.

In March 2025, doctors warned her loved ones to prepare for the worst.

But once again, Sarah proved them wrong – opening her eyes later that same evening.

She was later transferred to the hospice, where she would go on to share 12 more precious weeks with those closest to her.

During that time, she celebrated one of the most important moments of her life – marrying her partner Steve in an intimate ceremony at the hospice, surrounded by family.

Her loved ones said: “The hospice gave us more than care — they gave us love, compassion, support and the chance to be a family. We were able to make memories, to get married, to celebrate a birthday, to spend her last few weeks together as a family.

“The staff are simply incredible. Their compassion, dignity and unwavering support carried us through our darkest days. We hope no family ever needs their services — but if they do, they can rest assured they will be met with kindness, respect and love. Salisbury Hospice is truly incredible.”

The fundraiser set up in Sarah’s memory has been backed by friends, family, local businesses and the wider community – ensuring her legacy will help other families facing the toughest of times.
