Retired Salisbury woman becomes National Lottery millionaire

A SALISBURY woman is getting ready to set sail on a family cruise after scooping £1 million on the National Lottery.

The retired office worker, who is in her 60s and has not been named, struck gold in the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw last month after buying a Lucky Dip ticket online.

She had been playing the Lottery for years without success but decided to enter the special Bank Holiday draw on May 1, which guaranteed ten new millionaires.

The life-changing prize means she is now planning a family cruise and looking at home improvements, including building an extension.

Speaking after discovering she had won, she said: “I’m amazed and still in total shock! After playing for all these years without a win, I never imagined this would happen to me.

“It was the special Bank Holiday draw that tempted me, and I’m so glad it did, now my family and I have some wonderful things to look forward to.”

Winners’ advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, Liz Styles said: “Congratulations to our lucky Salisbury winner. What a way to celebrate her very first win! We wish her and her family a fantastic cruise and all the best with their home renovation.”

She said the win is another reminder that even long-time players can see their fortunes change overnight.

As well as creating millionaires, National Lottery players help raise around £33 million every week for good causes across the UK, supporting everything from community projects and sport to arts and heritage initiatives.
