THE hard work of volunteers at a Salisbury care home was highlighted at a special lunch last week.
Staff and residents at Milford House Care Home held an event during Volunteers Week last week that paid tribute to a group of volunteers who support the residents and home throughout the year.
Chair of Laverstock & Ford Parish Council, councillor Laura Jones and councillor Nick Baker who is also the home’s Wiltshire Council councillor joined in with the celebrations.
Cllr Jones presented the volunteers with a certificate and a small token of appreciation for all they do at Milford House.
Aga Musial, general manager at the care home, said: “It was so special to be able to celebrate and highlight the role our wonderful volunteers play in the life of our home.
“From our PAT dogs with their special owners, the Salisbury Vineyard and Emmanuel Churches who attend regularly, the Duke of Edinburgh participants from Godolphin School and students from Wiltshire College, family members and friends the list goes on – we are so grateful that they are willing to share their time with us.

“They each bring with them their talents, interests, sense of humour, life experience and more to share with our residents and keep us connected to our community and it was lovely to be able to acknowledge this by hosting this lunch.
“Not everyone was able to come but we will be sure to catch up with them all over the next week to express our thanks.”
Bridget, one of the volunteers who attended the event, said: “This was such a lovely occasion and it was extra special to have councillors Laura and Nick present to meet us and share in the day, and also to get a chance to meet and chat with some of the other volunteers.
“Milford House is very much a community and I really enjoy the volunteering that I do and being part of and supporting that community.”
