Stourhead to Stanpit – If only the river could speak: Sarum u3a upcoming talk

SARUM u3a members and guests are warmly invited to a talk by Ron Taylor about the River Stour.

It is taking place at St Francis Church in Beatrice Road at 10am on July 16.

A u3a spokesperson said: “This talk is about what the river has witnessed over the last thousand years.

“It could easily have a second title of ‘If only the river could speak’, because it has seen millionaires and millers, battles and burials, smugglers and spies, Russians and railways, deportation and drownings, enigmas and engineers, landed gentry and a landscape artist, murderers and a minster, fish and fairways.

“Ron talks about them all and has a bit of fun along the way. Most of the people he talks about were not perfect in any way!”

Members and guests are warmly welcome to attend the meeting which will start at 10am with coffee. Guests are invited to join Sarum u3a after two visits.

Sarum u3a is an organisation which welcomes people no longer in full time employment to come together to learn, laugh and live. It offers a vast variety of interest groups led my members with knowledge, experience or simply an interest in the subject, meeting in their homes.
