Vet practice donation supports wildlife and Scouts

A GRANT of £1,000 from a Salisbury veterinary practice has been split between two causes after employees voted on where the money should go.

Avon Lodge Veterinary Group invited staff to choose how to allocate the donation, with the final decision dividing the funds equally between the Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital and the Salisbury & South Wilts District Scout Campsite Quest.

District Scout support team lead and head of the Campsite Quest David Waspe welcomed the contribution.

He said: “This donation from adds to the significant sum Salisbury Scouts have saved over the last few years in their quest to find and purchase a piece of land for use as a Scout camping ground within 30 minutes of Salisbury.

“Our dream is two to three acres of flat, dry, accessible land, perhaps including a bit of woodland, away from any houses where our young members can have a safe place for outdoor activities, training, camping and just enjoying nature and the outdoors.

“We would like to thank the veterinary group for their generous donation”.

The Scouts’ long-term aim is to secure land for a dedicated camping site within easy reach of Salisbury, giving young people a permanent outdoor space for activities, training and camping.

Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital will use its half to support the work it does caring for injured and vulnerable wildlife across the county.
