THE New Forest celebrated International Women’s Day in style as 140 female business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals gathered for a day of inspiration, networking and reflection.
The event at the Balmer Lawn Hotel, organised by the New Forest Business Partnership (NFBP), focused on this year’s theme: Give to Gain. Attendees were invited to imagine a world free from gender bias and stereotypes, while connecting with peers from across the region – and a few men joined in too.
Keynote speaker Hony Premlal, a respected figure in the social housing sector, shared her journey through leadership roles and board positions, emphasising the importance of empowering women in business.
Hony, who mentors with the Housing Diversity Network and Women in Social Housing (WISH), has received widespread recognition, including the Woman of the Year Award at the 2025 Women in Housing Awards.
She was also shortlisted for both the 2025 Inspiring Women in Property Awards and The WOW Awards.
The event included a buffet lunch and networking sessions, giving guests the chance to share experiences and forge new connections.

A charity raffle raised £1,100 for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, supporting their Operation Airbase appeal.
Chair of NFBP Matthew Lawson said: “International Women’s Day is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together with purpose.
“The ‘Give to Gain’ theme highlights how generosity, collaboration and support create real progress – not only for individual women, but for the wider business community.
“This year’s event brought that spirit to life, and we are proud to celebrate the women who are shaping the future of our local economy.”

With workshops, networking and charitable fundraising all woven into the day, attendees left inspired, connected, and motivated to pay the “give to gain” ethos forward in their own organisations.
The NFBP plans to continue championing gender equality and supporting women in business, with future events aimed at fostering leadership, collaboration and community impact throughout the New Forest.
