POLICE were quick to respond to a reported theft of an £8,000 watch from a Salisbury jewellers yesterday (September 22).
The Rolex watch was reported as stolen from a store in the city centre at 3.57pm.
A description of the man believed to have stolen the watch was then passed to on to CCTV operators and officers found and arrested a man on suspicion of theft outside a nearby Premier Inn just 40 minutes later.
He was taken to Melksham custody for questioning.

Inspector Russell Griffin said: “We are focused on tackling the most prolific shoplifters as we know the fear they cause retail workers and the negative impact their offending has on communities.
“This positive and swift arrest was a result of excellent team work by Salisbury police teams and our CCTV colleagues.”
