It’s the season finale at Salisbury Racecourse, and tomorrow’s eight-race card features the valuable Quidhampton fillies’ maiden and a nice conditions race, alongside three novice contests and three handicaps.

We begin with a two-year-olds’ novice run over a mile (1.40pm). The vast majority of runners here are total newcomers, so this is going to be a hard race to judge due to so many unknowns.
Of those with previous form, Richard Hannon’s St Anton is the best at present, having placed on both starts so far, both over a seven furlongs, and he looks likely to go well again, stepping up in trip.
First-timer Runman, a son of Frankel, is a half-brother to Group Two winner Running Lion and a full brother to Group Three winner Majestic Glory, so he should prove to be the class act here.
Next is the first division of another two-year-olds’ novice, this time over seven furlongs (2.10pm). There are just three newcomers this time; Crimson Sunset, Deadline and Bu Hail, with Deadline looking to be the best of them on paper.
He’ll have a hard time getting past Willie Haggas’ Poetry Of Time, though, who was beaten just a short head on soft ground at Thirsk a few weeks ago and might find this easier.
In the second division (2.42pm), we have seven debutants and, therefore, another difficult race to judge with accuracy.
Oisin Murphy’s ride, Decem Starr, brings the best pre-existing form, after finishing second of 11 last time out at Leicester. Brian Meehan’s juveniles are doing well this term, so his colt, the nicely bred Battosai, should be worth a look.
The Quidhampton two-year-old fillies’ maiden, run over seven furlongs, is next (3.17pm). Five of the 11 contenders are unraced as of yet, with the Ralph Beckett-trained Queen’s Companion, owned by the King and Queen, likely to attract some attention due to her connections and pedigree.
Another first-timer who looks very promising is stablemate Music Academy, a full sister to two nice winners who was a very expensive purchase as a yearling, costing 600,000gns. The King and Queen’s horse, though, appears to be the stable’s first string.
A six-furlong juveniles’ conditions stakes follows (3.50pm). This looks a hot race, with Godolphin’s Sword Maker having won two quality races already, while American Gulf – who boasts the same rating of 90 – has shown plenty of ability also, winning and placing this term.
Bottom-rated Pilu seeks to extend his unbeaten record, having won over course and distance last time out in August. He is the freshest of all, and could follow up his victory again here.
Race six is a handicap run over six furlongs (4.20pm). Amo Racing’s Rock Iguana makes his handicap debut, having won or placed in each of his maiden and novice starts on the all-weather, so makes plenty of appeal here, provided he can replicate that form on turf.
Michael Blake’s Under The Twilight should be given careful consideration, due to a good run over course and distance last time out in heavy ground, and the sounder surface should make this much easier and achievable.
The penultimate race is a mile and a quarter handicap (4.50pm). Gloryous has done well since joining Jamie Osborne’s yard and, having come down a pound since a decent performance over this trip at Newbury last time out, she could get further to the front today.
Daniel and Claire Kubler’s Grecian Legacy should be in with a chance too, now just two pounds off a mark which saw her beaten just a neck at Epsom in June.
Finally, we conclude with a mile and three quarter handicap (5.25pm). Tom Dascombe’s horses are in great form at present and his new recruit, Media Mogul, looks appealing in first-time cheekpieces.
This gelding was useful for Ed Walker and should prove to be the same for his new stable. At the bottom of the handicap, Fair Dinkum may be capable of picking up a place, with five pounds given by a claiming rider, after winning by a big margin last time out at Bath over this trip on soft ground.
