Man caught on CCTV stealing from shop in Salisbury

A MAN has appeared in court after he was caught on CCTV stealing from Marks & Spencer in Salisbury last week.

27-year-old Evan Jewers, of no fixed abode, was caught on camera stealing from the store on 22 New Canal just before 3pm on October 22.

He was charged with charged with two counts of theft and breaching a criminal behaviour order and appeared in court last week where he was released on conditional bail to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court on October 31.

The force said Evan was charged following swift work by response officers, security guards and CCTV operators.

PC Ethan Pedder of Salisbury Response Team 1B said: “We are encouraging all members of the public to report any instances of suspicious behaviour in the town centre, especially over the half term when it is likely to be busier around our shopping areas.

“The swift work by all involved ensured a quick arrest was made during this incident. If you suspect a shoplifting to be in progress while out in our shops, please immediately report your concerns.

“Call 101, or if a crime is in progress call 999 immediately.”
