PICTURES: Sarum Lights opens at Salisbury Cathedral

VISITORS to Salisbury Cathedral’s Sarum Lights show can take a glimpse into lost worlds.

The hugely popular light and sound show experience by Luxmuralis returned to the cathedral on Tuesday (November 4).

And this year’s theme take visitors on a journey through history, and explores the ancient cultures and societies lost in the sands of time.

The cathedral’s West Front have come alive with spectacular imagery from the ancient civilisations of Europe, while the cloisters are illuminated with cave paintings and intricate patterns drawn from early cultures.

Inside the cathedral, light and sound transport visitors from the Garden of Eden to the Middle Ages of the Church. Legendary lost worlds, from Atlantis to Troy, will also come to life in breathtaking displays of colour and motion.

A cathedral spokesperson said: “What an incredible opening night! Take a look at some of these amazing shots, but this experience truly needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.

“Sarum Lights is on until Saturday, so don’t miss out – book your tickets now!”

As well as the usual stunning visuals and sounds, there will also be the addition of an interactive installation called Illuminated Ages, where visitors will be encouraged to write about something important they have lost or found, or add colour to a decorated letter, inspired by the beautiful designs found in medieval manuscripts.

This display will grow and change throughout the week.

Tickets can be bought on the Salisbury Cathedral website. The experience will run until Saturday (November 8).
