MORE than £1,100 has been raised through the mayor of Amesbury’s charity appeal, with funds split between a rare disease charity and the town pantry.
Earlier this month, the Amesbury Community Bingo Group raised £600 for Ichthyosis, a rare genetic skin condition.
Mayor Cllr Dr Monica Devendran paid special tribute to volunteers including Jeff Coy and Maureen Swaffield for helping make the event a success.
A further £530 was presented to the Amesbury Baptist Food Pantry, which supports residents experiencing food insecurity.
The Pantry offers practical support to individuals and families in need, with volunteers playing a central role in delivering the service.
Cllr Dr Devendran met Rev Barry, who leads the pantry, and praised the team who help keep the service running.
Through regular events and the dedication of volunteers, the Amesbury Community Bingo Group continues to bring people together while supporting those in need across the town.
Cllr Dr Devendran thanked residents for their continued support, noting that the success of the appeal reflects the generosity and compassion at the heart of the Amesbury community.
