A CARE home manager in Salisbury has been hailed a hero by colleagues and residents after taking on a daring charity challenge and raising hundreds of pounds in the process.
Carol Wootton, manager at Willowcroft Care Home on Oddstock Road, stepped over the edge to complete a charity abseil of King Alfred’s Tower in support of SOS Africa, showing both courage and determination.
Her efforts have already raised more than £600 for the charity, which works to improve the lives of children and communities across Africa.
The challenge may have been daunting, but for those who know her, it’s no surprise Carol rose to the occasion.

Still smiling!
The team at Willowcroft said they were “incredibly proud” of her achievement, praising not only her bravery but her commitment to helping others beyond the walls of the home.
“Carol’s bravery and dedication truly reflect the values we uphold at Willowcroft,” a spokesperson said.
“We are incredibly proud of her and grateful for the positive impact she continues to make.”
Residents and staff alike have been following her fundraising journey, with many cheering her on as she prepared for the big day.
The abseil marks just the latest example of the strong community spirit at the home, where staff regularly go the extra mile to support good causes.

Nearly there…
SOS Africa uses donations to provide education and opportunities for children who might otherwise go without, making every pound raised a meaningful contribution.
Carol’s fundraising page remains open for anyone who would still like to donate and support her efforts.
