Weather warning issued for Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset on Thursday

ANOTHER weather warning has been issued, covering much of Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset.

The Met Office is forecasting heavy rain between 11am and 11pm on Thursday (December 7).

People are being warned to expect:

  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses likely

A forecaster said there would be “particularly heavy” rain over south-facing hills and in coastal areas, and heavy showers will continue from Friday until Sunday.

“An unsettled end to the week, with further heavy showers and rain,” they added.

“Often windy, but feeling mild when sheltered with temperatures climbing above average for the time of year.”

It comes after a week of heavy rain across the south west, including in Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset, which has seen roads and schools close.
