Teens charged after Jaguar stolen from Shrewton crashed after police pursuit

TWO teenagers have been charged in connection with an incident that saw a Jaguar car stolen from Shrewton crash after a police pursuit.

The incident, which started at around 10.30am on Bank Holiday Monday (August 26), saw Wiltshire Police officers respond to reports stolen car was being driven through Westbury by two teens.

“The vehicle was located and following the successful deflation of the vehicle’s tyres by officers, the vehicle crashed on the A350 and two teens were arrested,” a spokesperson said.

Now, a 16-year-old male from Devizes, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop a vehicle when required to do so by police, aggravated vehicle taking, using a vehicle without insurance or in accordance with a licence and making off without payment.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court today (August 28).

The second teen arrested – a 15-year-old male from Devizes – was taken to Salisbury District Hospital following the incident and later taken into police custody in Melksham.

He has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking and will appear at the next available court.
