A DRIVER who fled from police – driving on a pavement and other dangerous manoeuvres – has been jailed.
David Wells, of Glyndebourne Close, Bemerton Heath, was arrested after an incident in Salisbury at around 9pm on November 17 last year.
The 46-year-old was driving on Western Way when he made off on a pavement having spotted a marked police car.
A pursuit began and over the next few minutes, Wells led the officer on a chase along Wilton Road towards Salisbury Racecourse; during which he made many dangerous manoeuvres including overtaking on solid white lines, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving at excess speed and going through red lights.
Wells was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court on Friday, April 14, after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and having no insurance.
He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment and disqualified from driving for four and a half years.
