ANTHONY Jones has been disqualified from driving for 18 months after he was caught driving 104mph while under the influence of drugs near Salisbury.
Jones, of Jordan Close in Barnstaple, was stopped by police after he was found to be speeding along the A36 Alderbury bypass over-bridge on May 23.
When stopped, the 35-year-old admitted to smoking cannabis recently and a drug wipe was taken which returned a positive indication for THC.
“Jones was arrested and a blood sample revealed no less than four micrograms of THC in a litre of his blood. The legal limit is two mcg,” a Salisbury Police spokesperson said.
Jones pleaded guilty to speeding and drug driving. As part of his sentence, which included a 80 hours of unpaid work during a 12-month community order, he must also pay a £230 fine, £114 surcharge and £85 court costs.
Roads policing officer DC Young said: “We are committed to keeping Wiltshire’s roads safe by cracking down on drivers who commit any of the fatal five offences which are most likely to cause a serious or fatal crash.
“Jones was guilty of two of these offences and the court deemed his driving to be of an unacceptable standard.”
