FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a fire in woods at Verwood yesterday.
At around 4pm on Wednesday (May 31) afternoon, a ‘large fire’ broke out at Verwood Forest, according to the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS).
At 7.50pm, Swanage Fire Station’s Land Rover, with others, was requested to attend the scene.
An off-road crew, also from Swanage, was also sent to the scene later and stayed overnight to damp down the scene.
They were relieved at just after 5.30am this morning (June 1).
