A MAJOR dementia conference in Salisbury is gaining momentum with organisers confirming a high-profile keynote speaker as interest continues to grow.
The Navigating Dementia Conference, hosted by Safer and Supportive Salisbury, will take place on Tuesday, May 19 at Salisbury Methodist Church, bringing together carers, professionals and people living with dementia.
Now, organisers have announced that respected advocate Sir Al Aynsley-Green will headline the event – and will also be available for media interviews before and after the conference.
Sir Al is expected to focus on the importance of dignity, empathy and compassion in dementia care; an issue that continues to affect families across Wiltshire and beyond.
His involvement adds significant weight to the event, which aims to combine professional expertise with real-life experiences.
The conference will also feature contributions from Nigel Jenner, offering a global perspective on dementia research, treatment and prevention.
Alongside this, people with lived experience will share their stories, while local organisations will be on hand to offer practical advice and support.
Organisers say the event is designed not just to inform, but to connect people, creating a space where those affected by dementia can share challenges, ideas and solutions.
With demand already high, attendees are being urged to book early.
The free event opens at 12.30pm with a buffet lunch, followed by the main conference running from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
As previously reported, the conference is part of a wider push in Salisbury to strengthen support networks and raise awareness around dementia – an issue that is becoming increasingly urgent as the population ages.
