THE first Age UK shop in Wiltshire has opened in Salisbury – as the charity offers free help and advice to local pensioners.
The store, at 44 Catherine Street, opened its doors on Thursday (December 7) with a speech from Salisbury Older People’s Champion, Irene Kohler.
Staffed by a team of volunteers, sales will raise money to support services such as companionship and exercise clubs.
Alongside clothing and household accessories for sale, the shop will also offer appointments with information and advice experts, who ensure older people in the area are aware of the essential services and support schemes available to them.

Sarah Cardy, CEO of Age UK Wiltshire, said: “We are thrilled with the new space, and it’s been so exciting putting it all together.
“Our first new charity shop represents a significant step forward in our efforts to be a town centre presence and raise important funds that directly impact the services we provide for older people.
“We want it to be a place where people feel welcome, and we look forward to becoming an integral part of the Salisbury community.”
