Stolen Land Rover set on fire near Salisbury caused £100,000 damage to farm

A CAR stolen from an estate overnight near Amesbury was set on fire and destroyed a haystack – causing £100,000 worth of damage.

A grey 2003 Land Rover Defender was stolen from The Great Durnford Estate near Amesbury between 9pm on October 10 and 6am October 11.

The car was then driven around south Wiltshire before being located at around 6.30am where it was found burnt out in a hay store at Longford Farm in Odstock.

“The suspects set fire to a haystack, causing upwards of £100k worth of damage, as well as damage to an excavator and multiple farm gates,” a Salisbury Police spokesperson said.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.
