Survey shows Salisbury Hospital staff look forward to coming into work

LOOKING forward to your job is unfortunately not commonplace across the UK – but Salisbury Hospital staff are bucking the trend.

A recent survey by the NHS revealed that Salisbury Hospital was the highest-scoring hospital in England for staff looking forward to going to work.

Every year the NHS conducts the biggest staff survey in the world, called the National NHS Staff Survey, with around 700,000 staff taking part across the country.

The survey results also show that the trust continues to make significant improvements in many areas and that it is the most improved trust within the group of 50+ trusts that use the Picker survey company to administer the survey.

As reported in the Health Service Journal (HSJ), Salisbury is the most improved acute trust in England for the second year in a row.

Managing director Lisa Thomas said: “I am delighted that this year’s annual National Staff Survey has seen our hospital achieve some great scores.

“Besides once again [being] ranked the most improved acute trust in the country as reported in the HSJ, the survey also showed that Salisbury is ranked first for staff looking forward to going to work.

“In addition, we’re in the top quarter of all acute trusts for seven of the nine key indicators of the People Promise – all indicators are in the top half.

“This is an outstanding result, and I must congratulate every single member of staff for not just delivering excellent care under pressure but also striving to make our hospital the best place to work.

“However, we’re not complacent, as the survey also highlights where things can be improved or need further attention. We will continue to strive to provide outstanding experience for staff as well as our patients.”

The NHS Staff Survey, with the quarterly Pulse Survey, is utilised to make a significant contribution to how the Trust prioritises resources and improves hospital life.
