ONE of Salisbury’s best-loved summer traditions will return next month as 100 teddy bears appear in shop windows across the city for the annual Salisbury Bear Hunt.
The popular trail runs from Saturday, July 11 to Saturday, September 5, giving families the chance to search for hidden bears across Salisbury while raising money for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice.
The event, now in its second decade, has long been a fixture of the school holidays.
For the past ten years it was organised by volunteers for Save the Children, but 2026 marks a new chapter after Wiltshire children’s hospice Julia’s House was chosen to take over.
Children and families can collect free entry forms and search for as many of the bears as possible.
Completed forms can be posted into the Bear Post Box at Salisbury Information Centre for the chance to win prizes donated by local businesses.
Julia’s House fundraising manager Alice Chalmers said: “We’re delighted to be taking over the Salisbury Bear Hunt, and we’d like to say a huge thank you to the previous organiser Su Lycett and the Save the Children volunteers for choosing Julia’s House as the event’s new guardian.
“Salisbury Bear Hunt is a fun way to raise awareness and donations for Julia’s House and the specialist care that we provide to children and families in Salisbury, and across Wiltshire and Dorset.”
Former organiser Su Lycett said: “It’s been fantastic to organise the Salisbury Bear Hunt for Save the Children for ten wonderful years, and we’re so pleased this popular community event can continue with another very important local children’s charity.”
As part of Children’s Hospice Week, Salisbury schools taking part in Julia’s House’s Big Teddy Takeover can name some of the bears featured in the trail.
Free entry forms will be available from the Julia’s House charity shop, Salisbury Information Centre, Salisbury Library and local bookshops.
The prize draw will take place on Saturday, September 12.
