A FAMILY-RUN Wiltshire vineyard is raising a glass to a remarkable double celebration after winning one of the wine industry’s highest honours while marking its 10th anniversary.
Bluestone Vineyards, near Stonehenge in Cholderton, has been awarded a prestigious Gold Medal at the internationally renowned Decanter World Wine Awards for its Premier Reserve 2018 sparkling wine.
The award-winning wine scored an impressive 95 points out of 100 with judges describing it as “exceptional” – a major achievement for a vineyard that only planted its first vines a decade ago.

The accolade adds to Bluestone’s growing reputation on the English wine scene.
Last year, its Blanc de Noirs 2019 received a rare Platinum Medal at the same awards, placing the Wiltshire producer among the country’s elite vineyards.
Founded in 2016 by brothers Nat and Toby McConnell, Bluestone began as a 10-acre vineyard on the family’s rare breed’s farm.
Since then, it has developed a loyal following for its limited-release English sparkling wines and has become one of the county’s standout success stories.
The latest recognition comes during English Wine Week, which runs from June 20 to June 28 and celebrates vineyards and winemakers across the country.
Nat said: “When we planted in 2016, plenty of people were sceptical about the quality English wine could reach. Ten years on, with some real successes behind us, I’d like to think we’ve made our case.
“Our vineyard has proven it can grow exceptional fruit, and it means a lot to have that recognised by Decanter.
“More people are seeking out English vineyards than ever, and English Wine Week is the ideal time to come and see for yourself what we’re doing here. I’m proud of what we’ve built, and I can’t wait to see what the next ten years bring.”
To mark the week, visitors can enjoy free self-guided vineyard tours, while guided tastings and wine experiences are available throughout the year.
