Big decisions ahead on Wiltshire transport plans

PEOPLE across Wiltshire are being urged to have their say on the future of transport in the county – from buses and road safety to cycling routes and electric vehicles.

Wiltshire Council has launched a public consultation on its Local Transport Plan 4 (LTP4) Delivery Plan, which will shape how transport improvements are rolled out between now and 2038.

The plan includes proposals to improve public transport, expand walking and cycling routes, boost electric vehicle infrastructure and tackle freight and traffic issues across towns, villages and rural areas.

It will also influence future projects in key locations, potentially affecting how people commute, travel to school, or get around their communities.

The consultation, which runs until May 5, gives residents and businesses the chance to help decide what changes are prioritised and how they are delivered.

Cabinet member for highways Cllr Martin Smith said: “This is the stage where we turn the vision of LTP4 into the detailed actions that will make a real difference to people’s daily lives.

“While the first LTP4 consultation asked for views on the overall direction and priorities for transport in Wiltshire, this consultation is about the delivery of that plan – the programmes, strategies and infrastructure that will shape how improvements are actually rolled out in our city, towns, villages and communities.

“Your feedback now will help us refine these proposals and ensure that the work we take forward truly reflects the needs and challenges of local people.”

The LTP4 is also linked to wider council priorities, including cutting carbon emissions, improving road safety and supporting economic growth.
